I don't claim to be a big YouTuber.. I have some moderate success... however these are some of the hard lessons I have learnt over the last 10 months:
1. Don't give up, no matter what the comments say. 2. Create the content YOU want to create, if you enjoy it so will your viewers. 3. DON'T mess about with intro's, if you MUST have an intro keep it SHORT and Interesting... 5-10 seconds at the most. This is the biggest mistake I made in the beginning. 4. Make the videos you want but try to be relevant and different. 5. In the beginning make at least 1 video a day... and do what you want... then look back a week later at your stats at which did better then start building on that... eventually you will find your "Thing" that people like. 6. It takes months if not years to build a decent following (thats if a bigger youtuber does not give you a leg up). Everyone who is big has paid their dues. 7.Collaborate!! try to do things with others even if its just doing a quick lets play or letting them help on your video... 8. Interact positively with your viewers, don't swear or call them names or degrade them... YOU need THEM more than they need you. 9. If Possible respond to every comment! 10. Unless you can annihilate a troll with superior intellect or in a funny way... just ignore, block and remove the comment,
BONUS TIP:
11: Act bigger than you are, but never THINK you bigger than you are.
